Master Glaze

Simple two hour project.  I had the paint, the master bathroom cabinets needed to match the new wall color and wanted to try to paint, sand and glaze.

Fresh coat of paint on the left, just way to plain.  I tested on the door on the right.  I was nervous on the sanding part, probably could have taken more off.

I'm not proud of the before picture - waited way too long for an update.

Much better... I like the darker color and the distressing.   The oil rubbed bronze knobs, just repainted the gold ones.

I think it may need one more layer of something and a little more sanding.

  4. Glazing always makes a paint job come to life, Lori. Yours is just the right- not too light and not too dark. My kitchen cabinets were glazed- gave them a nice Frenchy look. Glad you're happy with your newest project. Don't forget to poly- mine have 4 coats and they have lasted almost 10 years!

  5. Hi Lori
First of all, thanks for the heads up on the bunny plates. Sheila left me a note, and hasn't seen them for a few years either!
Secondly, your cabinets look great. I need to do that so badly to several sets of cabinets, but never get up the nerve. Were these in your bathroom?

    Happy Easter

  11. You are so brave! These came out really nice & I think you're smart to just scuff them up a little at first. You can always take off more later.

I hate to admit that I have brass door knobs all over the house. :/ I never even noticed them until I saw yours painted. I'm tempted..........

  13. Oh, I think you're doing a great job. They look fantastic. Love that you painted your olden knobs. I always do that, too. Hardware is sooo expensive.

It's been about a year since I bought the fabric with french script at Joanns...hope they still have it. If yours doesn't have it, let me know, I'll ck and see if ours still has it. If so, I could mail you some.

  14. Lori, what did you paint the knobs with? I haven't heard of that and knobs are so expensive by the time you add them up! Great makeover.
