I love setting the formal table at Christmastime. I surprise myself every night when I get home and think "oh there is a party tonight!" Then realize "no, it is just another Tuesday night."
My girls keep telling me less is more. So I went with less this year at the center of the table. But, it just wasn't enough.
Here is less.
Actually I added the saucers under the candles. I was afraid of the wax getting on the table runner, which I love and was a half price find at an after Christmas sale.
The saucer below is from my husband's church that he grew up going to in Louisiana. They have Wednesday night suppers. Once upon a time they used real plates with the church name on them. I have a cup and saucer that his mother gave me.
I just still thought the table needed a little bit more of something.
So I added fresh greenery to the center of the table.
Just to let you know, the little tripod above (bottom center) works really well with my new camera. I now need to remember to remove it from the picture when not in use.
Tadaa! less is more.
I have a tea cup collection and I used some of them on my table. I just rounded up any with green or red in the pattern.

And so, I hope you enjoyed a peek at my Christmas Party! I mean table.

So pretty!!!! I love that you set it just to enjoy. I would love to do that, but we have 2 cats that I am afriad would make such a mess of it all. Though I never "see" them on the table....they are sneaky critters.

ReplyDeleteI loved seeing all your different tea cups and saucers. You were right about adding the greenery. nice touch of texture. Your green bows on the chair are just right, not too much.

Wow, your teacup and saucer collection is amazing! Each one is prettier than the last! Good call on adding the greenery--it just pulls everything together! Kind of like throwing on that scarf before going out. I bought one of those mini tripods on ebay, and I just love it. I'm sure it will show up on one of my tablescapes, too!
