I have three girls and luckily have three patterns of silverware.
Great-Grandmother, Grand-mother, Mother ( to my girls)
I'll start with the oldest. The girls Great Grand-mother.
Rogers Brothers, Remembrance
It has a pretty beaded edge, this set has tons of serving pieces to match.
Next the set from their Grand-mother
Rogers Brothers - No pattern name, Old Company plate on some
This set includes ice tea spoons. Some are engraved with a K.
My set
Christofle of France, Malmaison
I was told that the french set the silverware upside down (to us) probably right side to them. Since they eat continental style... the backs of the silverware are more detailed than the front.
I love setting it "upside down" for dinner parties.
I enjoy them all and they will remain that way for many generations to come.

How nice that you have enough silver for each daughter..I have three sons, but one of my sons has done much research on our pieces...he really appreciates the workmanship and value..so he will most likely will end up with most of our silverware. Maybe if I have a granddaughter some day I will pass some to her as well. Your silver sets are so pretty..hard to choose a favorite. Have a great week!

I do think that's great that you have such great silver to pass on to your girls. I especially love your pattern -- so ornate on the back. My parents wanted to make sure that we all received cut glass bowls...that didn't exactly happen. Joni

ReplyDeleteWhat lovely silver. I have appreciated mine more since I started blogging. I received 4 placesettings when I married and one each year until I had 12. What a lovely way to do it. Now I wish I had inherited my mothers and my aunts for my girls. I guess I will just have to have fun on e bay!
ReplyDeleteI think that is so special! I love anything handed down and silver tops the cake! I just tried to get my mom to give me my grandmothers silver this weekend! You have lucky girls!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful story of your generations of silver! I love the whole idea of it! I hope you continue to enjoy it and the continuity of generations.

Oh what lovely silver patterns they all are. And even though they are different, they also have an element to them that seems related. I bet they would also be pretty mixed together. Thanks for sharing these beautiful patterns with us.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I don't know which set is my favorite! How will your girls decide? These are really beautiful and I am glad you are taking care of them for the future. Linda

ReplyDeleteI almost had to force our daughters to register for silver when they got married, but they both did and they enjoy it a lot. I wasn't ready to pass mine on yet!
