Happy Fourth of July and my cooking inspiration, Lissa

Keep it Simple

We will be taking these to a pool party!  Only place to be in 100 degree heat on the July 4th weekend.
Deviled eggs, provolone cheese, hard salami, cherry tomatoes on a flag pic.

I also will be taking some of this.
Chocolate Sheet Cake with Louisiana pecans ya'll.

Yes, we did taste test.  Mainly because it is greatness! But also because I tried a healthy twist.  It called for two cups of enriched flour, I used one cup enriched and one cup whole wheat flour.  It also called for two cups of sugar, I used one cup granulated sugar and one cup splenda.  You cannot taste the difference at all, but you will be eating less calories per slice.  Now does anyone know a substitution for two sticks of butter (does it help that I used organic) and one pound of powdered sugar?! I get to rename it, since I changed the recipe a tad, right?  Lala's cocoa cake!  Here's the link to the original recipe.

Here is my inspiration for trying the healthy twist.

Meet Lissa and take a look at her blog! Especially if you need/want to eat Gluten free.
Keep it Simple, Keep it Fresh!

She and her family are from California, but just made a trip to Texas, see how cute they are!
They have a second daughter as well.  Her life journey is amazing in her original blog.  Such a great story of saving their marriage.

Have a Happy Fourth of July!
