You know I was having a dinner party last Saturday, so I just had to paint the hardware on the front door, while Lynn painted a fresh coat of seal black on the inside.
Took us about maybe an hour. Done and went food shopping for the party!
Primed, oil rubbed bronze spray paint
Before above, after below
DONE! It's the little things. that drive me nuts
You gave me the courage to paint mine. I have the same fixture in oil rubbed bronze but when I was cleaning the door I washed it and water spots formed. I don't know if the soap messed up the finish or if the NM sun killed it but Ive been wanted to paint it forever!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the courage and great post!
Take Care!

It is ALWAYS the little things, isn't it? But that is what we can do something about! And so you did!
ReplyDeleteWhy is it always the little things? I guess if it's the big things, you just move!
ReplyDeleteThe door looks good! Now I want to paint all my hardware.
Me too! We did this exact same thing (only nickel instead of bronze) a few years ago and love it. Yep, it was quick and so worth it. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThis is a project I need to do. Thanks for the great instructions and tutorial!

Little change....big impact!! Looks great!

I know exactly what you mean! My problem is what I think will take an hour somehow ends up taking three!!! Your door looks great!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!~ What a neat idea..love the red door too.
ReplyDeleteAmazing the difference...I really like it. Mine needs an uplift too!!
ReplyDeleteIt's all in the details... that's designer speak ;)
ReplyDeleteI painted my old brass one a texured black spray paint. Didn't prime first but only the key area needed touching up a few years later.
Thanks for joining my Bunny Hop.

Home to Wednesday's Bunny Hop Party!
Your hardware looks fabulous! I painted my light fixtures by my front door black....now I'm undecided about the door hardware. The door is black so I'm thinking nickel for contrast......but your ORB looks so good. UGH. Decisions.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend! -Lisa
Lori- it looks brand new again! I contemplated re-painting my lockset, but when I went into Lowes for paint, they told me that Schlage would replace my set at no charge because the company has a lifetime guarantee. Worked for me- I now have a brand new front door lockset! But I think I could be painting my Dexter sets real soon! It IS the small things that annoy...
