Birthday Napkins I'm using now

Happy Birthday Lynn!  Here he is last weekend, going to play golf in the Miata convertible.  The trunk is too tiny for his clubs to fit.  So, he just propped them behind his seat and took off.

Filter flip, do you do it?

A new trick, the filter flip.  There is no need to be frustrated before you make your first cup of coffee trying to pull that one little paper filter off from the bunch.

FIRST ~ Take the new block of filters out of the bag.

SECOND ~ flip them over, inside out, you know backwards.
Don't you just love the patina on that hand, all crackly and antique looking.

THIRD ~ Fluff

No fumbly morning fingers, just pick one off to use.

You can thank me now and to see an additional morning coffee tip for warming your coffee cup go here.

My daughter and I are fighting over this one

Lynley found it, but she is living at home right now, so I get to use it for a while.  Just call my house her storage space.  You can see how huge it is by seeing it on the couch.

I actually like how it is banged up a little.   Makes it seem ancient, just like me.  Don't they say things become an antique at 50 years.

Wisteria Catalogue picture.  $289.00 - Wisteria Annual Clearance $10.00.  I am not lying either.  It is missing one platform for a candle, but I just happen to have something at the house to correct the problem.

Ours is hanging by the front door.

I did go back for the lamb

Bouquet of Lisanthus are from over ordering for a wedding I did this weekend.

I did go back to the Wisteria Warehouse clearance sale and there were only three lambs left.  Yay for me.

She is lounging on top the kitchen island.

Now for the winner to my giveaway.

Congrats to ....  Random number 17
Simone at Beach Vintage.

Thanks, everyone who played along!

Happy Fourth of July and my cooking inspiration, Lissa

Keep it Simple

We will be taking these to a pool party!  Only place to be in 100 degree heat on the July 4th weekend.
Deviled eggs, provolone cheese, hard salami, cherry tomatoes on a flag pic.

I also will be taking some of this.
Chocolate Sheet Cake with Louisiana pecans ya'll.

Yes, we did taste test.  Mainly because it is greatness! But also because I tried a healthy twist.  It called for two cups of enriched flour, I used one cup enriched and one cup whole wheat flour.  It also called for two cups of sugar, I used one cup granulated sugar and one cup splenda.  You cannot taste the difference at all, but you will be eating less calories per slice.  Now does anyone know a substitution for two sticks of butter (does it help that I used organic) and one pound of powdered sugar?! I get to rename it, since I changed the recipe a tad, right?  Lala's cocoa cake!  Here's the link to the original recipe.

Here is my inspiration for trying the healthy twist.

Meet Lissa and take a look at her blog! Especially if you need/want to eat Gluten free.
Keep it Simple, Keep it Fresh!

She and her family are from California, but just made a trip to Texas, see how cute they are!
They have a second daughter as well.  Her life journey is amazing in her original blog.  Such a great story of saving their marriage.

Have a Happy Fourth of July!

Lori
