Of course, this was a Pinterest inspired project.  And since I have two dozen of these in my attic leftover from Ann Marie's wedding reception, I just had to give it a try. 

I was going to my daughter's house for a few hours and told her I was bringing along a project.  Hobby Lobby was the only place I could find the one supply I needed.   Looking Glass Mirror Like Paint.

First we sprayed a light spritz of water inside the clean vases.  Then one light coat of the spray paint.

At this point I was bit worried.  But, that is what the blog post directions said too, so I forged on.  My daughter was busy decorating her house for an upcoming baby shower she was hosting for her sister-in-law.  So this was a one woman project.  

I let the first coat start to dry and then layered on others.  Sometimes rolling the dripping spray paint around the inside.  Sometimes adding a tiny bit more water, tiny is the key.  Each coat took less than 10 minutes.  You can speed up the process with a hair dryer.  Whole project was done in about 30 minutes. I painted six hurricane vases. 

An tadaa!   It worked.  Kind of.  Since, then I have read you can rub black and gold paint lightly on the inside.  It rubs off a bit of the glass paint and ages the look more.  

I am happy with the results and I think a candle will look great in them too.

Paper guest towels were hard to find.  I wanted specifically black and white or a simple K initial.

No TJMaxx, no Marshalls... Thanks Tuesday morning, large selection there.

This little Piggie

How much fun can twenty little toes be?

.... and this little piggie went wee, wee, wee all the way home. 

Layton was very patient on the floor while I went back and forth between Hadley's and her toes.  

Oohlala it was fun playing with Lala. 

I love Girl Scouts.. I do, I do, I do !

I was in a troop growing up.

Cookies were .75 cents a box when I sold them.

There is nothing more cute than a little girl in her vest at my front door in January.

Our favorite cookies are Samoa and Thin Mint.

I know there has been seasonal ice cream flavors...

BUT LOOK WHAT I FOUND

Thank-you Coffee-mate!  From the bottom of my empty coffee cup.  You talk about good to the last drop!  Samoa flavor was sold out.  I will be back to the store soon to keep checking.

And who thinks the Girl Scouts have gotten even more smart?  They show up at your door with the cookie boxes in hand this year!  Well, my neighbor's daughter sold 150 boxes, so I still had fun filling in the cookie order sheet.  But, had the cookies in hand three days later. 

Candle light and a party favor.

 I always say, "it is never a party until you light the candles!"

Candles and tinsel, great combination.  Add friends even better, makes the night perfect!

For our New Years Eve table, I kept my creamers filled with greens from Christmas.  Added a black runner, silver disco balls, silver garlands, silver candy dishes, glass votives and filled anything I could with tea lights. Then for the final touch I drizzled tinsel over everything.  

Remember the tinsel creation I added for New Year's Eve.  (Go back two posts)  You would not believe the amount of tinsel stories that were told around this table.  Do you have one? Each couple at this party,  brought one course and served their course.  That way you worked only one part of the party.  Then you were off the hook and just relaxed for the rest.  

Of course there was a party favor.  Poppers and black-eyed peas!  I googled, we eat black eyed peas for good-luck.  You see, when the war between the states was going on, the Yankees would take everything on the Southerner's land and leave the peas.  They (the Yankees) thought the peas were cow feed.  So, the Southerners were lucky to have peas and cornbread to eat.  

As luck would have it, my birthday falls on the 31st of December.  The whole world has a party.  My youngest daughter, Lynley supplied my cake!  A red velvet, Nothing Bundt Cake!  I finished it with my coffee the next day.  Thanks, Lynley! Great way to start the New Year!

The courses for dinner were:

The Smith's - Louisiana Shrimp with homemade ramulaude sauce
The Tuohy's - Lobster bisque with lump crab
The Robert's - Spring greens topped with goat and feta cheese, pecans and strawberry vinaigrette

Sorbet and then a break to play a white elephant gift game

The Kees' - Beef tenderloin and asparagus
The Gasparro's - Individual iron skillets warm and straight from the oven chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream

Then we retired to the den for champagne and the New Year!

the bar was ready....

For this past New Year's Eve, I set this table up outside.  The weather was cool and I needed all the kitchen counter space for the seven course dinner.  So, this really helped with the flow.  

Fresh greens, flowers and candles outside too. 

Then it was time to ... Celebrate good times, come on! 

Come on 2014!   

Next up, party favors and candle light! 

It started with tinsel...

then five couples and seven courses.  A white elephant game.  Equals tons of New Years Eve fun! 

My Grand-father would cover the tree with tinsel.  One piece at a time.  Heavy tinsel too.  My Mom did the same thing and still does.  I saw tinsel on clearance after Christmas and grabbed four boxes at .19 cents each.  Woo hoo, I am a big spender.  I started draping it on the dinning room table.  You see there were guests coming for New Year's Eve.  

I added fresh greens and flowers. Ooohlala.  

Champagne glasses would be needed.  Silver platter from 32 years ago, as a wedding gift, came into play.

Tuesday, December 31, 2013.  That little brass time keeper was on my Dad's desk many years ago.  He has been gone too long.  I was 17 when he passed.  He was 42.  So, I guess he was at the party in spirit.
