First the history of each plate. After seeing several wall arrangement in pictures, I started to collect some of my own. First came up with off-white/ivory color scheme. My first purchase was the plate with the word EAT on it. I knew this would be going in my kitchen and I liked the simple look. $10.00 at a friends boutique while on a Baton Rouge trip. MyLouise is an adorable shop.
Then the next two were found on seperate visits to GW. Roses in center with gold trim, $1.00 and the other with faded flower design in center, .75 cents.
The final two, which have a bit of color, the mossy green, but match my paint wall color totally perfectly, were a Tuesday Morning purchase, 1/2 off 1/2, $2.00 each. Total all five plates $15.75.
Plate holders from Hobby Lobby for $1.99 each. Here is how they work.
Wet the glue with your fingers on the back of the disc and let sit for 3-4 minutes, attach by pressing the disc to the plate ( I sharpied my plates with a mark to show the top) let them dry overnight and hang! The disc things have been around for 30 years, so the ad says. They are supposed to come off in warm water. I thought they would work well and the traditional metal plate prong holders wouldn't show around the edges.
Only downside if you want to swap plates out you can't. So at Christmas time, I may need to purchase a few of the wire plate hangers. Hobby Lobby had both kinds.
Arrange and hang on your wall. Done!
total project - $25.00, I heart my plate wall!

I love a grouping of plates on a wall. You were right, those with more color look great with your wall color. I'm usually partial to plain solid colors but those two are really pretty mixed in with the others. I haven't tried those plate hangers. I wondered if they really work. I guess I can give them a try now.
ReplyDeleteYour plate arrangement looks so pretty and my favorite plate is the one that says EAT. I never saw plate holders like that, there so much nicer then the wire ones.I think I'm going to make "ANOTHER"(LOL) trip to Hobby Lobby to get them! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLori love your story, and I have to say I never have seen those little plate hangers...you arranged them so well, and they do look perfect over the door. I love the unique Eat one! Thanks for sharing!~ Enjoy the weekend and thanks for joining in.
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming display, Lori. I've always used the wire hangers, gonna have to check out the other ones. Have you been to that chic shop in Perkins Rowe that has plates hanging all around the walls up high? It's a dress shop, can't think of the name of it at the moment but the plates are hung in a huge swirl pattern around all four walls. It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI really like how your plates look and the Eat one is so cute!! Good job and I'll be interested to hear if you like the plate hangers. I change things so often I'm not sure I would like them.
ReplyDeleteLovin the plates...
ReplyDeleteespecially the EaT plate...
Would love a set of those!

Sweet Up-North Mornings...
Lori, I love your plates and arrangement. I did not know they sold those disc things at Hob Lob. I will have to check that out. I keep seeing them in people's side bars as sponsors. Glad to know I can go to the store and buy them and not have to order them.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with those last 2 plates, they're gorgeous! Your other finds are lovely too! I've never seen those plate hangers, we don't have Hobby Lobby here but maybe I can track them down somewhere...they look much better than the wire hangers!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend:)
that is a lovely plate wall and the price was totally great ... i will have to look for those plate hangers, they seem like a great idea!
ReplyDeleteLove the plate holders. I have the old brass ones with the springs! These seem to work better! They look beautiful displayed there on the wall!

Hi Lori,
ReplyDeleteYes, they really do look wonderful displayed together! Thanks for the tip on those plate hangers - I'd never seen them before.
Amanda
Your plates look great! I really like how you displayed them above the door opening. I've seen those plate hangers at Hobby Lobby but I have never used them. I was glad to read they worked so well.
ReplyDeleteJane
Your plates are wonderfully displayed. I need to check out those hangers at Hobby Lobby! Happy WW! Hope your day is a lovely one!
