World Champion New Orleans Saints! Oh and Karl's Birthday

We went to Alexandria for Karl's 75th birthday and got home in time to watch the Super, super Bowl!  Joanie came in her new car and the party was wonderful, ending with a lively game of left, center, right!  I won one, Joanie won one and Chris tried to be a good sport.  Nickie you just might be enjoying that gambling a little too much.

That is about as close as the other quarterback got to the trophy!

No pants on the ground for Saints fans (although I do have a fun picture that I am not posting)

Second round - not at the finish line yet.

Is this what running a marathon feels like.? Yes, still working on my weekend project from three week-ends ago.  No weekend work this coming weekend though.   I will be in Louisiana at my Step-Dads 75th birthday party.  Lynn will be in Miami for the Super Bowl!  Who Dat Nation!  Are you cheering for the Saints?  I AM!  Geaux Saints!

In the meantime here is round two... round three may knock me out!

Wow, look pretty wood, I may never paint over natural wood again!

You can barely see the pink and hand painted floral garlands showing through (second painting).  You can for sure see the antique blue (from my Mom's first painting).  Why is the green giving me a hard time.   Yellow stripe, pretty yellow mellow and going away quick. Green stripe, mean green!

I'm like a mad dog, not giving up yet. Stay tuned!

PS if the Saints have a bad night Sunday night, I may finish my project, because I will be too nervous to watch the game!

I can do that!

This is the chest that I am going to try and re-create.  I love this and I have a five drawer chest just waiting to be refinished.  Stay tuned for before and after.... I have started this little project and you can see the below pictures of the unsuccesful paint stripping event.

Before/After Number chest

I want one of those cool chests, wood stained with black numbering on the drawers.  But instead of the one with the $1000.00 price tag, I am going to try and make one out of a chest I have in the garage.  Oops I almost forgot the before picture, so sorry already project in progress.

But you can see it was a green and white striped, five drawer chest. With a high gloss finish that was turning the white stripes a nice pale yellow.  I already had removed the white round knobs and painted on the first coat of paint stripper.  Which to my dismay, made me realize my weekend project was turning into .... God knows how long.  Because this is all the first coat of stripper took off. I have purchased what is supposed to be a super duper paint stripper.  The weather is cool, so I may need to make this on indoor project.  That also may be why the stripper did not work as well.

The history of this little chest, my Mom painted it a an antique dark blue... she passed on the chest to me and I painted it pale pink with hand painted floral garlands up and down the drawers for the babies room.  Then I thought the girls had grown up and needed a striped chest of drawers.  After our last move it has been in the garage for eight years. I need extra storage in the house!

I'm going to post this today and maybe that will make me more determined to get on with the project.
