Sip and See a success!

My best friends daughter had her second baby girl and instead of another shower her friends gave her a sip and see.  I am featuring Shelbi!  Go see her fabulous event site here.   Events by Shelbi Rene

Master Glaze

Simple two hour project.  I had the paint, the master bathroom cabinets needed to match the new wall color and wanted to try to paint, sand and glaze.

Fresh coat of paint on the left, just way to plain.  I tested on the door on the right.  I was nervous on the sanding part, probably could have taken more off.

I'm not proud of the before picture - waited way too long for an update.

Much better... I like the darker color and the distressing.   The oil rubbed bronze knobs, just repainted the gold ones.

I think it may need one more layer of something and a little more sanding.

Hostess gift idea!

I have given these as Christmas gifts, and no, I do not plan this far ahead for a holiday.  But I will be entering this in a contest, with a deadline that is quickly approaching.

Cute creole seasoning gift bucket.  The recipe is below.

Gather ingredients...

Measured and ready to whisk.

Mixed and ready to pour, a funnel really helps at this stage.

Cutest little jar of Creole Seasoning ever!

Mashed Apron Holder!

I wanted to display a few of my aprons in the kitchen and to also have them close by when I need them.  The rest of my collection is in the laundry room.

So I needed something to hang them from.

A mashed potato kitchen gadget was perfect!

The large polka dot apron is embroidered with the letters g.r.i.t.s.  Ya'll know what that stands for.... Girls raised in the South!  And of course she would have an apron collection and a resourceful hook solution.  The bow head on top doesn't hurt either.

Thanks for your suggestions..

I found my old coca-cola holder in the bottom of the Easter decorations.  Don't ask, I do not know why the Easter bunny stored it there!

I asked for suggestions on what to do with her, and boy oh boy did you all come through.  Lot's of flower suggestions, I did buy red geraniums, but hubby put them in the ground really fast.

So here are the fun runner's up.
She is wearing the new ruffled skirt that I made for her.

Remote controls

silverware caddy

She got a reversable black skirt, for when she is feeling bloated.

I didn't think magazine's would fit, but they did.  Wine bottles didn't.

Neither did cookbooks.

Napkins will work

and she does hold magnets.

But in the end, she is currently being used as a centerpiece.

A small coke bottle, a red candle holder, some greenery and a silk red magnolia.

Thanks, She is quite the center of attention now.

Waterford mark and Bishop and Stonier of England

Would you have noticed the Waterford mark on the bottom of this frame.  It was sitting on a shelf at Goodwill and I noticed. I also noticed the $1.00 price tag.

She was dirty, I bet that is a silver rimmed frame. Small chip at the very top in the back.

Yep, silver rimmed Waterford frame!  She cleaned up nicely.

Another day, another GW.   There were two plates and a large sugar creamer minus the lid in this lovely pattern.  I passed on the bowl that was small and chipped. Creamer $1.99, plates .99 cents each.

I kept the creamer on my desk at work.  Florescent lights help to take great pictures.

I have red transferware and want to mix in green for Christmas time.
The pattern mark says, Dalyrmple - Bisto England with an angel mark printed and also pressed into the plate.  Love the edging and pattern.

History lesson starts here....
I binged/googled Bisto England and found out that Bisto stands for Bishop and Stonier and their pottery was under this name from 1899 - 1939.  So I may go back for the chipped bowl and I know why the top of the sugar bowl is missing.  These are at least 70 years young or older.  It is not an angel but a wand of Caduceus.

Onto our Dillard's clearance store.  A whole store where all the clearance items end up.
Half price off the lowest price in the linen and china department was the best special I could find.  I was going to hand sew some Easter napkins, but why when these pastel beauties were marked down from $8.00 each to $2.40 and then half off to $1.20.

And these silver napkin rings for my collection, $4.00 to 1.20 to .60 cents!  They only had two, drat.

Love the embroidery look of the design.  Super soft and thick cotton.

These will work with my new white plates.  I bought 8 napkins, but I plan to mix my white linen napkins in with them.  Our guest count for Easter lunch is already over 8!

When supper club's kids get engaged!

Five couples hosted a shower for one of the groups son and fiance.

I think the engaged couple had fun!  I know everybody else did.  The theme was Margaritas and Fajitas.
